Melva Freeman, a CRI staff member, is recovering from Bipolar. She shares what she has learned about stability in the "Tools for Stability" workshops, which can help anyone, whether or not they have a mental diagnosis. In these workshops, Melva concentrates on how to have mental health, not mental illness. She gives tips on how to deal with depression, doctors, medication, and journaling to relieve stress and more. This monthly workshop is Melva's way of sharing the practical aspects of what she does for her own health and well being. She includes the importance of stress reduction, sleep, and other tools she uses for stability. The “Tools for Stability” workshops are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 1-2:30pm. Melva also facilitates a Mental Health Support Group for people with mental disabilities. These support groups are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 1-2:30pm. All of these are free and are held at the CRI offices at 980 Hopper Ave. in Santa Rosa. Melva teaches “Tools for Stability” in the community. If more people knew how to have mental health and practiced what they learned, we would have a much better world. Please contact Melva if you or someone you know is interested in having Melva speak for your organization or agency about mental health.
